Google.org selects GrowthAfrica as its official implementing partner for its Google Impact Challenge in Kenya. We are proud and honoured to be delivering and driving the Challenge in partnership with Google which has been inspired by the exceptional projects and initiatives taking place throughout Kenya. The Challenge is running in South Africa and Nigeria in parallel to Kenya.
This challenge targets nonprofits and social enterprises in Kenya with game-changing ideas to make the community stronger and create social impact, with a specific focus on increasing economic opportunity. Google has committed USD 2M in grant funding, mentorship, resources and training by Google for the 12 finalists to help them turn their ideas into a reality. The application submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges who are industry experts with extensive knowledge and experience. They include, leading industrialist Dr. Manu Chandaria, OBE, EBS; Media guru and GM at Radio Africa Caroline Mutoko; Peace Activist and Former Marathoner Amb. Dr. Tegla Loroupe; Founder and CEO of Keroche Breweries Tabitha Karanja; Film maker and Founder of Mohamed Amin Foundation Salim Amin; Community Empowerment, Development & Governance Expert Janet Mawiyoo and Google Kenya Country Manager Charles Murito.
We shall be hosting information sessions for interested applicants to address questions around the application process and the content of the Challenge. The sessions will be held in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Machakos between 28th June and 2nd July.
