Short Bio:

Ivan Mbowa is the CEO and Co-Founder of Umati Capital, a financial services company that aims at changing ways through which entrepreneurs can access finance using innovative technologies.Along with over 8 years experience working in various areas cutting across treasury, operations, credit risk management, investment banking and financial institutions banking, Ivan worked with Citigroup as a Senior Relationship Manager and Assistant Vice President in various African Countries.

He completed the Chartered Financial Analyst Level 1 Certification and is also qualified in U.K. Financial Services Authority Threshold Competence Level 2. He also holds a BA in Economics Cum Laude and BA in International Relations Cum Laude from Tufts University (US).

Umati Capital is a non-bank financial institution that provides credit and related payment technologies in Kenya.

Umati provides working capital to small businesses that purchase raw inputs from primary agricultural providers, process and sell those inputs to downstream buyers including the largest retail chains in East Africa. With its current operations in Kenya, Umati intends to scale out this model across Africa to reach the vast majority of small and growing businesses that are underserved by existing financial services providers.
